Open the Eyes of My Heart, Lord
“In the year of King Uzziah’s death I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple. Seraphim stood above Him, each having six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called out to another and said, ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory.’ And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, while the temple was filling with smoke.”
“Then I said, ‘Woe is me, for I am ruined, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.’”
“Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal in his hand, which he had taken from the altar with tongs. He touched my mouth with it and said, ‘Behold, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away and your sin is forgiven.’”
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’” (Isaiah 6:1–8)
In this passage of Scripture, the prophet Isaiah had a vision that opened his eyes to three incredible revelations. First, he had a vision of the thrice holy God in all His glory and splendor. Second, in the presence of the Holy One, Isaiah gained a glimpse into the abyss of his own sinful heart. Third, God revealed a people who were created in His own image, people who needed to hear the message of God.
You and I, like Isaiah, need to experience ongoing revelations of God, of ourselves, and of the people who live around us. Perhaps we could start by praying some very specific prayers.
How about if we were to start our day by praying, “Father in heaven, please reveal something to me about yourself today, something that I have never seen or understood before today.”
Follow that prayer with this prayer: “Father in heaven, please reveal something to me about myself today, something that I have never seen or understood about myself until today.”
Then finally: “Father in heaven, please reveal something to me about the people who live around me today, something that I have never seen or understood about my fellowman, so that I might be more willing to be a vessel of your grace, your mercy, and your love to them.”
We serve a God who is more anxious to answer these prayers than we are willing to ask. So, take your time. Let the Spirit of God search your heart, and don’t be so quick to dismiss the first things that might come to your mind.
Whatever God reveals to you as you pray these three prayers is going to be what He truly wants you to know and understand—about Him, about yourself, about your fellowman—so that you might become a vessel that is sanctified and useful to the Master, prepared for every good work (2 Timothy 2:21).
主啊，求祢開啟我心中的眼睛
當烏西雅王崩的那年，我見主坐在高高的寶座上，他的衣裳垂下，遮滿聖殿。 其上有撒拉弗侍立，各有六個翅膀，用兩個翅膀遮臉，兩個翅膀遮腳，兩個翅膀飛翔， 彼此呼喊說：「聖哉，聖哉，聖哉，萬軍之耶和華！他的榮光充滿全地！」 因呼喊者的聲音，門檻的根基震動，殿充滿了煙雲。
那時我說：「禍哉！我滅亡了。因為我是嘴唇不潔的人，又住在嘴唇不潔的民中，又因我眼見大君王萬軍之耶和華。」
有一撒拉弗飛到我跟前，手裡拿著紅炭，是用火剪從壇上取下來的，將炭沾我的口，說：「看哪，這炭沾了你的嘴，你的罪孽便除掉，你的罪惡就赦免了。」
我又聽見主的聲音說：「我可以差遣誰呢？誰肯為我們去呢？」我說：「我在這裡，請差遣我！」(以賽亞書 6:1-8)
在這段經文中，先知以賽亞看見了一個異象，這個異象開啟了他的眼睛，使他得著三個極其重要的啟示。首先，他看見了那位至聖的神，正彰顯著祂所有的榮耀與光輝。其次，在這位聖潔者的同在中，以賽亞看見了自己內心罪惡的深淵。第三，神向他顯明了一群按著祂形像所造的人，就是那些迫切需要聽見神信息的人。
你我都需要像以賽亞一樣，不斷經歷神的啟示──認識神、認識自己，也認識我們身邊的人。或許，我們可以從一些非常具體的禱告開始。
不妨每天早晨以這樣的禱告開始：「天父，求祢今天向我顯明祢自己，讓我看見一些我從未看見、從未明白過關於祢的事。」
接著，再禱告：「天父，求祢今天向我顯明我自己，讓我看見一些我過去從未察覺、從未真正明白的自己。」
最後，再這樣禱告：「天父，求祢今天向我顯明我身邊的人，讓我看見一些我過去從未看見、從未明白的地方，好使我更樂意成為祢恩典、憐憫與慈愛的器皿，去服事他們。」
我們所事奉的神，其實比我們自己，更渴望回應這些禱告。因此，不要匆忙。讓神的靈鑒察你的心，不要太快否定那些最先浮現在你腦海中的感動。
當你帶著這三個禱告來到神面前時，無論祂向你顯明的是什麼，那都是祂真正希望你知道、明白的──關於祂自己、你自己，以及你身邊的人。如此，你就能成為一個分別為聖、合乎主用的器皿，預備好行各樣的善事（提摩太後書 2:21）。
